Spanish Rice

1 cup long grain rice
2 tablespoons bacon fat (or olive oil)
16 oz stewed tomatoes
2 gloves garlic
1 teaspoon pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup water

Fry rice in bacon fat until brown.  Add onion and garlic and saute 1 min. Add everything else and cover, simmer for 20 min.
